Does anyone have thoughts on advanced degrees like MPH or MS in addition to the MD?

Never get any degree just for the sake of it. There is a large prevalence of MPHs in EM due to the public health intersections.

There is no other thought that the MPH degree is a freestanding professional degree that allows its constituents to practice in various different areas, including health education or behavior, health policy & management, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and so on. Having a medical degree will obviously expand your ability to get employment or consideration in the field that you’re seeking. In my belief, if you are an MD, possess a public health degree or have experience in your field, these are all things that will give you an advantage of other applicants that you’re competing against.
